About Us

World Bank Public Information Centers (PIC) provide access to Bank publications, reports, and other operational documents.

The World Bank opened its first PIC in Colombo on February 2006. It is the central resource facility for information about the World Bank in Sri Lanka.

• Access to Information on World Bank Operations and Project information in Sri Lanka
• Information on World Bank support to Civil Society groups and opportunities.
• Training on navigating the World Bank websites and online resources.
• Opportunities to to participate in development dialogues (with prior appointment).

We have partnerships with Marga Institue and Colombo University to provide access to World Bank publications .

Expanding our services, we now have a virtual Public Information Center on Facebook and World Bank Sri Lanka website. Join us on Facebook to get regular updates on knowledge products and services.

World Bank Regional Library - Colombo University

March 11, 2010 - The World Bank signed a MOU with the University of Colombo initiating a knowledge sharing partnership with the Development Resource Center (DRC) in the Department of Economics, Colombo University. Through this facility the DRC and the World Bank together with other Research and Development organizations, facilitate dialogues and debates on development. Bank's online resources and reference library facilities are available to students, academics and to public with prior appointment.

World Bank Depository Library - Marga Institute

Marga Institute has been the only World Bank Depository Library in Sri Lanka since 1970s.

March 8, 2010 – The World Bank signed an MOU with Marga Institute, upgrading depository library facilities and initiating a knowledge sharing partnership for development. In addition to a reference collection of all World Bank publications, online resources, this depository library provides access to information on World Bank operations in Sri Lanka.
